Longest Serving Employee

Without the help of many people over the years, we would not be celebrating Voyager Alliance’s 30th Anniversary this month. With too many to mention in person, we would like to take this opportunity to extend a sincere ‘Thank You’ to everyone for their support over the last 30 years.

We catch up with Voyager Alliance’s longest serving employee, Maria Hughes.  Maria joined Merseyside based Alliance Credit Union as an apprentice in July 1997.  “I started out in member services, progressed to the loan team, and then became Office Manager,” said Maria.

In February 2007 Alliance Credit Union amalgamated with Manchester based Voyager Credit Union to form Voyager Alliance Credit Union, and Maria continued as Office Manager of the Huyton office.  “It was an obvious move forward, as we both served members in the public transport sector, and together we could offer better services to our members” remembers Maria.

“Over the years, I’ve got to know so many of members, and it’s a privilege to be part of their lives, she continues. “We’ve helped members at every life stage, and I’ve been lucky enough to build a rapport with many members. I’m passionate about credit unions and have seen first-hand, how they can help people’s lives.”

Now Operations Manager, and leading the Team at the Manchester office, Maria is enthusiastic about the future. “Joining the Penny Post Group is very exciting, and I’m looking forward to helping more members, reaching more people, and offering even more competitive services.  I’d love Voyager Alliance to be our members number 1 thought for savings and loans, before other financial providers.”

“I’m not sure where the years have gone, but I’m so proud to be part of Voyager Alliance!  Serving members for 30 years is a great achievement and something which we couldn’t have done without the support of our wonderful members.”

Thank you Maria, and everyone who has contributed to Voyager Alliance over its first 30 years!
