Bus Driver of the Year 2023
Posted on Sep 07, 2023We were proud to sponsor the prestigious Bus Driver of the Year 2023 awards in Blackpool again this year and what a fantastic weekend it was!
After being a headline sponsor at the 2022 awards, we were thrilled to once again be part of this prestigious competition, and to celebrate with the top professional bus drivers in the UK!
Delyth and Emily, from our business development team, represented Voyager Alliance in Blackpool. “Voyager Alliance Credit Union is proud to support the UK bus industry by providing an invaluable, free staff benefit to improve financial resilience and wellbeing for all drivers and all supporting staff” said Delyth.
We were pleased to present each of the 117 finalists with one of our hand-crafted ‘good luck’ packs, as a small memento of their tremendous achievement.
“I attended the awards for the first time this year and was amazed at how professional the competition was! It was tough with 117 drivers competing for the top cash prize and to be crowned Bus Driver of the Year! I met some great people over the weekend, got to talk about how we support those in the industry, and I was thrilled to give each competing driver a good luck pack and some goodies!” Emily reflected.
Delyth, who attended the BDoY awards last year with our Vice President Graham Jones, was pleased to catch-up with some of the drivers, trainers and family members who she met last year too!
Throughout the year, Delyth and our business development team visiting depots, garages and workplaces across the country, to talk to those working in the bus industry about saving and borrowing straight from their pay. “After a busy year out and about, it was great to catch up with people over the weekend who we’ve met this year, and we see Voyager Alliance members competing at BDoY 2023!” said Delyth.
The pinnacle of the weekend was the awards ceremony! National Express took home first prize, with Lee Grantham being crowned winner! Lee has been a driver based in Acocks Green for over 16 years and was “simply lost for words” when he was announced as winner of the competition! Well done to Lee and all at National Express!
