Help with your Household Energy Debts
Posted on Sep 16, 2022Did you know you might be entitled to funding to help with your household energy debts this Winter? With the current cost of living crisis, many of us are concerned about our finances at present and what is to come.
If your income can’t stretch any further, The British Gas Energy Fund has some very valuable information about how to access funding during these difficult and uncertain times.
Individual & Families Debt Write Off fund
This fund is open to British Gas and Non-British Gas Customers with an energy debt between £250 and £1500.
To receive this funding, you must:
– Live in England, Scotland or Wales
– Not have savings over £1,000
– Have received money advice (this will be considered if you are at risk of fuel poverty also)
– Have not received a grant from British Gas in the past 2 years
– Household income below £16,190 (for households with 3+ children, caring responsibilities or disabilities, a higher income will be considered)
Energy Support Fund
The Energy Support Fund is open to British Gas customers only, who have an energy debt of £250 – £1,500. The Energy Support Fund is open to British Gas credit and Pay Per Month customers.
To receive this funding, you must:
– Live in England, Scotland or Wales
– Have not received a grant from British Gas in the past 12 months
There is no income threshold for the Energy Support Fund, however £21,000 was the average annual income for those successful grant applicants
